Recognizing that retirement planning has varied stages as people contemplate how they will spend their years after retiring, East Ridge at Cutler Bay offers prospective residents varied opportunities to learn more about the lifestyle of a life plan community by providing complimentary educational and entertainment programs as well as the comforts of home.

“Deciding where to live is the first and most important step to best enjoy one’s retirement years,” explains Amy Sanders, Director of Sales and Marketing at East Ridge. “Our ‘Experience Stay’ is a free program that invites a potential resident to sample lifestyle first-hand. People stay in a private residence for three days and two nights and truly experience what it is like to live at East Ridge.”

Since East Ridge is pet-friendly and many potential residents are dog owners, pets are invited to stay in the community as part of “Experience Stay”. East Ridge has a designated and secure dog park and the meandering pathway system is perfect for dog walking. Bringing their dogs along also give prospective residents a chance to socialize with other pet owners.

The “Experience Stay” is a great opportunity to try the wonderful dining experiences offered at East Ridge and participate in community events and fitness classes. The culinary options at East Ridge include dining in the main community dining room or for a casual setting, there is the charming Peacock Cafe as well as the flexibility to order a meal for dining at home.

East Ridge has a state-of-the-art fitness center and a wealth of exercise classes are offered throughout the week. The weekend Yoga and Tai Chi classes at 4:30 in the afternoon are especially popular.

“We’re finding more and more people put fitness first on their wish list for their retirement, and are quite impressed by what East Ridge offers,” added Sanders.  “Not only is the equipment tailored to mature adults, the entire environment motivates exercise. A wealth of fitness classes and instruction when a newcomer’s appetite, as well as seeing how neighbors enjoy what’s become the hub of the community.”

The unique tropical grounds at East Ridge provide residents with up-close views of Florida’s natural environment, including palm hammocks that often nest rare bird-life species. A convenient outdoor heated pool area complements walking and biking paths in the expansive open green areas surrounding the community. There’s a putting green, Disc Golf and the shuffleboard courts are enjoying renewed popularity.

“Retirement options found in a life plan community like East Ridge mean health assistance without moving from your residence, as well as assisted living, memory support and skilled nursing at the on-site Three Palms Health Center,” Sanders explained. “There is professionally trained wellness staff offering preventative care and wellness education, all integral to East Ridge’s lifestyle.”

Inevitably, residents find they are able to live better at East Ridge than at their previous home because of daily attention and social activities. “They’re healthier and happier, too,” she added. “Maintenance-free living at East Ridge means no longer worrying about upkeep at home, inside or out. Costs to maintain a home, as well as the responsibilities of home cleaning and repair, can become an overwhelming chore. Not to be burdened with those problems and their expense is a major plus of living in a truly-complete retirement community.”
