Event Details

David Lawrence headshot

Where: East Ridge at Cutler Bay Auditorium
When: Wednesday, October 2 | 2 p.m.

David Lawrence Jr. will share his life of personal engagement with issues that have shaped modern America and explain his own efforts, as a nationally known journalist and as a citizen, to make a difference.

Raised on a farm, Dave served as a reporter, editor, and senior publisher at seven newspapers, retiring from the Miami Herald as publisher of 25 years, to spend his energies on helping children get off to a good start in life and in school.

Founder of The Children’s Movement of Florida, crusader for Alzheimer’s, board member of many organizations, and also husband to Bobbie, father of five, and friend to many. We at East Ridge are most interested in David’s story about how he has coped with Bobbie’s Alzheimer’s and how this late-in-life event challenges their lives.

We are also interested in Dave’s contributions to family and society, the state of the newspaper business, and his assessment of life in 21st-century America.
