Coronavirus Precautions

At SantaFe Senior Living, the health and safety of our residents and associates continue to be our top priorities. While we are pleased with the high vaccination rates of our residents and associates and take comfort in the greater protection they provide against the virus, we remain proactive and aggressive in our approach to COVID-19. We continue to monitor current conditions, follow CDC, state and local mandates, and implement best practices to protect our community.

Re: COVID-19 Update
Date: January 25, 2022

I would like to take this opportunity to provide an update on the status of the COVID-19 virus in our East Ridge at Cutler Bay independent living area. We currently have four independent living residents who have tested positive for COVID. Residents will be considered low or high risk based on tracking and tracing conducted by a member of the East Ridge team. If you have had direct and significant exposure, you will be informed by our associates.

High-risk (i.e., had significant contact with someone who tested positive) independent living residents are not allowed in the independent living dining room or the Three Palms building for ten days. High-risk independent living residents are strongly advised to avoid community activities, wear a mask, practice social distancing, wash hands frequently and use hand sanitizer. We ask our residents to please be respectful of others who may be worried about getting the virus.

Low-risk (i.e., had minimal contact with someone who tested positive) independent living residents are not allowed in the independent living dining room or the Three Palms building for five days. Low-risk independent living residents, along with all other independent living residents, are encouraged to wear masks, practice social distancing, wash hands frequently and use hand sanitizer.

Due to shortages of testing supplies, we are not currently testing independent living residents. Instead, please seek testing from a pharmacy, your doctor, a clinic, or the health department if you have any symptoms or are worried that you may have COVID. Please advise us of any positive test results so we can work with you to keep everyone safe and healthy.

The positivity rate in Miami-Dade County continues to decline rapidly and is at 24% today after peaking at 38%. Because this memo only addresses independent living residents, our response needs to be different from what we do for healthcare residents in Three Palms Health Center. For those who have not been exposed and have not tested positive, you are free to make your own decisions. You may continue to take part in activities and dining if you are comfortable doing so. The dining room will remain open.  No resident guests are allowed yet. We hope that will change soon. I have decided to allow prospective residents to visit the community and the dining room.

It remains our highest priority to protect the safety of our residents and associates while respecting the rights of our independent living residents to make their own decisions.

Thank you,

David A. Kremer
